Odyssey For Stars
I'm looking for a corner
dark enough to see the stars.
Radiating light in the night from the city
goes a long, long way.
And yes, it led me far.
Escaping from the glow of the city lights,
led me far.
Then I put on my back,
my guitar and my sack
and I walked out of my door.
I came upon a man who was sittin' on a rock
and I told him what I was searchin' for.
He said when you want to talk,
try to listen.
He said a diamond sky
needn't tell you how to dream.
He said a hand can pull another
out of danger.
He said from his rock
that success is a relative thing.
Then I put on my back,
my guitar and my sack,
and walked on down the road.
I came upon a girl
with a rainbow on a string
and I ask her where to go.
Well, she said when you run
the wind, it feels like freedom.
When she sang her songs,
she didn't think about fame.
She said, "I can see the whole world
from the top of the mountain!"
She had a magic smile
that warmed me like a flame.
I'm lookin' for a corner
dark enough to see the stars.
Radiating light in the night
from the city...goes a long, long way.
Then I put on my back,
my guitar and my sack,
and I followed how the river flowed.
I came upon a bear
who gave me quite a scare
and I asked her what she knowed.
Well she looked at me
and looked down at what she was a-doin'.
She was teachin' her cubs
to eat from a stream.
Well, no one really knows
but I think that she was laughin'.
I didn't recognize anything as mean.
Then I put on my back,
my guitar and my sack,
and I walked into the trees.
I came upon a boy
with a bone in his nose
and earrings like Christmas trees.
Well, he gave me several things.
The first it was a smile.
Then with his hands and his toes
he weaved me a hat.
I offered him a little money
to make us even.
Puzzled he was...he said,
"what should I do with that?"
Then I put on my back,
my guitar and my sack,
and a trail I followed to the road.
Upon a meadow I came,
it was dark and just the same,
tired, I decided to unload.
Well, the ground was soft and warm,
for it was summertime.
Flowers perfumed where I laid my head.
With my eyes open wide in an hour
it was like daytime.
Stars were so close
I could touch them from my bed.
Then I put on my back,
my guitar and my sack,
and I headed for my home.
I headed for my home.
